Walnut

Quiet but full of substance

The walnut is the fruit of the walnut tree. The most common varieties for consumption are the English or Persian types, either white or black.

Its nutritional and medicinal properties were already known in Spain as early as the 12th century, during the Muslim period.

Annual production reaches around 5 million tonnes, with China, the USA, Iran, Turkey, and Mexico as the main producers.

It can be eaten raw, pickled, candied, or toasted.

Walnuts subtly enhance countless dishes, from meat and fish to salads, soups, and desserts.

They are rich in protein, B vitamins, manganese, and oleic acid. They’re said to be good for the heart, although there are no definitive scientific studies confirming this.

Truly, walnut croquettes are a delight to remember for a long time — simply unforgettable.
